Stop that likelihood

What happened in parliament today, Lok Sabha to be specific, was unseemly and unfortunate. An ugly spat on what Speaker Meira Kumar rightly called a "solemn" day. But Pranab Mukherjee's statement that if Advani kept politicking, another worse attack would take place. Dada Mukherjee must have said something as a retort but this has been a refrain right from the prime minister to the lowly constable.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said, in so many words and many many times, that another attack is likely. The top defence officers keep claiming we are ready but one can't rule out another attack. Can we stop this likely business? What the hell do we have a government for? Do we have an intelligence system or not? Can our leaders tell us that they will not let another 26/11 happen? At least on 26/11.
